Graded cards and sealed product have deep liquid markets with public comps. Buying raw collections and cherry-picking the valuable cards is the classic play.
02 — "The Crash Course"
- Step 01
Pick a category
Pokémon, sports (basketball/football/baseball), or Magic. Each has different buyers and comps. Learn the key sets and chase cards.
- Step 02
Always pull comps
130point.com (eBay sold incl. best offers), PriceCharting, and Card Ladder. Never trust 'listed' prices.
- Step 03
Buy collections, not singles
People exiting the hobby sell binders and boxes cheap. Marketplace, estate sales, and card shows. Offer 50–60% of the visible value.
- Step 04
Sort fast
Pull the top 10% cards; bulk the rest. Sell bulk by lot on eBay or to local shops.
- Step 05
Grade selectively
Only submit to PSA/BGS/CGC when the graded premium clearly beats the fee and wait time. Inspect centering, corners, surface under light.
- Step 06
Sell with clean listings
Front/back scans, sleeve + top loader, and ship in bubble mailers with tracking for $20+ cards.
- Step 07
Work card shows
Trade up, buy from dealers at close, and sell graded slabs in person to avoid fees.
